چکیده

The paper considers a two-dimensional flow in channel, which consists of straight inlet and outlet branches circularly 90-degree curved bend. An incompressible viscous fluid flows through the elbow under action constant pressure gradient between outlet. Navier-Stokes equations were solved numerically using high-fidelity spectral/hp element method. In range Reynolds numbers, an adaptive selective frequency dumping method was used to get steady-state flow. It found that three separation bubbles vortex shedding can exist modal stability two- three-dimensional perturbations investigated. Critical number disturbances as extrapolation by lower results. is much greater than one, but could subcritically unstable with respect imposed small-amplitude white noise. For perturbations, dependence critical numbers on bending radius obtained. case moderate neutral curve provided eigenfunctions are studied detail: instability be caused periodic or monotonically growing mode, these modes regard recirculation occur after

Numerical Investigation of Turbulent Mass Transfer in a 90° Bend

This paper presents a numerical study of local mass transfer coefficients in a 90° bend using the RNG version of k–e model to include the influence of curvature on the turbulent transport. Simulations were performed for flow through a 90°, 3-D bend for Reynolds numbers of 13500, 90000, and 390000, Schmidt numbers of 2.53 and 700 and curvature ratios of 1.5, 2, and 2.5. The differences betwe...

Experimental Investigation of Turbidity Flow in 90 Degree Bend with Mobile Bed

Turbidity currents in the ocean and lakes are driven by suspended sediment. The vertical profiles of velocity and excess density are shaped by interaction between the current and bed as well as between the current and the ambient water. This paper presents 48 series of experiments in which saline gravity currents flow through a laboratory sinuous flume. flume contains three successive bends wit...

Effect of Bend Curvature Ratio on Flow Pattern at a Mixing Tee after a 90 Degree Bend

Many nuclear power plants report high cycle thermal fatigue in their cooling system, caused by temperature fluctuation in a non-isothermal mixing area. One of these areas is the T-junction, in which fluids of various temperatures and velocities blend. The objective of this research is to classify turbulent jet mechanics in order to examine the flow-field structure under various operating condit...
